Questions about GratefulMe and gratitude journaling
Answers about GratefulMe — price, privacy, paths, Premium and the iPhone app — and about how to start and keep a gratitude journal.
Last updated:
Is GratefulMe free?
Writing is free forever: unlimited entries, your whole history with search, life areas and the first 7 steps of a path in every theme. Premium adds the reflections, steps 8–14 and the full summary of your month and year.
Will my entries remain private?
Entries are made and stay on your phone. There is no account, no cloud and no sync, and notifications never show what you wrote. You can also lock the journal with Face ID.
Do I have to write every day?
No. There are no streaks and nothing resets. After a break you come back to the same step — nothing is lost.
What is a path?
A named series of 14 questions on one theme, such as “More calm” or “Closer to people”. You answer one at a time, at your own pace, and after step 7 and step 14 the path pauses for a reflection on your own answers.
Can I use GratefulMe without internet access?
Yes. Everything is stored on the phone, so it works even in airplane mode.
Which devices and languages does it support?
GratefulMe is an app for iPhone, available in English and Polish.
How do I start a gratitude journal?
Pick one good moment from today and write a few sentences about it: what happened and why it was good. That is enough for a start. The guide “How to start a gratitude journal” goes step by step.
What should I write about?
Anything good, large or small: a person, a place, a moment of quiet. If a blank page is hard, a path gives you one question at a time on one theme, such as “More calm” or “Work without burning out”.
How often should I write?
As often as suits you. There are no streaks and nothing resets. In a 2003 study, people who kept a gratitude journal once a week for 10 weeks rated their lives better than people who wrote about hassles (Emmons and McCullough).
Is gratitude journaling backed by research?
Gratitude exercises have been tested in studies. In a 2005 study, people who wrote down three good things every day for a week, with why each went well, were happier a month later and still six months later (Seligman et al.).
What does Premium include?
The reflections, steps 8–14 of a path, the whole month summary, “A year of gratitude” with all twelve months, and “A year ago, on this day” with the whole entry. Writing stays free forever.
Is there a free trial?
The yearly plan starts with 7 days free. You cancel in the App Store whenever you want.
Can I lock the journal?
Yes. With the Face ID lock on, the journal opens once your face is recognised.
Is there an Android version?
No. GratefulMe is an app for iPhone.
